A leading livestock bedding supplier is seeking an HGV technician to repair and maintain its fleet of vehicles. Candidates should have an NVQ Level 3 in HGV Motor Mechanics or equivalent experience. This facility is one of the largest livestock bedding suppliers in the country with over 40 years of experience in producing and supplying a range of high-quality animal bedding.

What we can offer you
  • Salary: £44,600 basic
  • Plus regular overtime and including the alternative Saturdays = up to £64,000
  • Occasional Sundays and bank holidays when needed - paid at £27.84ph
  • Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7.30am - 5.00pm

What you will do

You will be working alongside other technicians to repair and maintain a fleet of HGVs and trailers, working out of the vehicle maintenance workshop.

We are excited to announce that our new workshop facility will be constructed in 2026, featuring a professional service pit that will significantly improve our maintenance capabilities and service quality.

Duties
  • Currently our trailer inspections and repairs are conducted at ground level - this will be changed with our new upcoming workshop pit.
  • Carry out PPM and/or fault finding on HGV/LGV units and trailers
  • Moffat inspections and repairs
  • Hydraulic works on multiple types of units / trailers
  • Electrical works on multiple types of units / trailers
  • Work on bespoke “blower” trailers (including blowing equipment)
  • Fault-finding and brake testing/braking systems
  • Pre LOLER inspections to fleet, where applicable
  • Some aspects of welding and fabricating
  • Attend off-site breakdowns
What we are looking for

Essential:

  • Either an NVQ Level 3 in HGV Motor Mechanics or 4 years experience as a minimum
  • Good awareness of safe working practices / Health & Safety

Desirable:

  • IRTEK qualification
  • HGV licence
  • Autoelectric qualification
  • Hydraulic qualification or experience
Remuneration
  • £18.56 per hour for first 45 hours worked
  • £23.20 per hour for hours worked over 45 hours
  • £27.84 per hour Sundays and BH working (if required)
