Overview

Bouygues Travaux Publics is a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor with a commitment to diversity. We are looking for a driven and hands-on Materials Technician to join our Marine & Tunnelling team at the Civil Works Alliance, supporting delivery of the Sizewell C project, one of the UK\'s most significant low-carbon infrastructure programmes. This is a site-based role that supports cutting-edge civil engineering and nuclear construction, providing essential materials testing and data to drive project success.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out concrete, grout, aggregates, and earthworks testing—both on site and in laboratory environments.
  • Support development and testing of concrete mixes for tunnel linings and other specialist construction elements.
  • Prepare and deliver trial mixes, monitor material behaviour, and ensure full compliance with technical specifications.
  • Work in accordance with UKAS-accredited lab protocols and Sizewell C quality standards.
  • Help train junior staff and support continuous improvement in testing and reporting procedures.
  • Maintain accurate data records and report findings to technical and project teams.
  • Bring attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to Zero Harm in all activities; act as a key part of the laboratory and on-site engineering teams to provide high-quality data and insight for the project\'s success.
What we\'re looking for
  • Previous experience working with construction materials in a UKAS-accredited laboratory.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in a relevant subject (or equivalent).
  • Strong data collection, analysis, and communication skills.
  • A full UK driving licence; the role involves travel between sites including Suffolk and Avonmouth.
  • A positive attitude and a desire to keep learning and developing.
Desirable
  • SSSTS qualification.
  • Experience training others or reporting KPIs.
  • Familiarity with risk assessments and method statements.
