We are looking for a Materials Engineer to join our Infrastructure team in our Roads team to play a pivotal role in supporting our A428 project near St Neots. This opportunity will help you leverage your expertise in materials engineering covering all construction material types.

What you'll do:
  • Ensure materials compliance with specifications and manage testing programmes.
  • Advise engineering teams on material suitability and approvals.
  • Support Net Zero goals through sustainable material choices and carbon reduction.
  • Develop and trial cost-effective concrete mix designs with suppliers.
  • Minimise rework through quality assurance and timely testing.
  • Provide digital tools and training to site teams for materials testing.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships to optimise material performance.
  • Manage workload efficiently, agree realistic deliverables, and meet deadlines.
  • Define KPIs with testing labs and support purchasing with spec alignment.
What you'll bring to the role:
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, or significant experience in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of industry specifications, including the Specification for Highway Works and relevant British/European standards.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities.
