Job description

Job Title: Manufacturing Manager

Location: Washington, Tyne & Wear - Onsite

Salary: Up to £63,500 depending on experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Being responsibility for achieving the Washington annual schedule adherence target of >96%
  • Supporting the development and establishment of efficient manufacturing processes and facilities to meet production programme requirements taking into consideration factors such as safety, logistics, process flow, inventory and lead times
  • Developing and implementing continuous improvement activities utilising for example, lean tools and techniques to drive delivery performance, throughput, stock turn increases and operating expense reduction
  • Being responsible for achieving the manufacturing and maintenance annual budgets, including labour costs, general hardware/software costs and capital purchases
  • Having overall responsibility for people and process performance across Production; which includes discipline, development, supervision, time management and attendance over and up to a 24/7 continuous production cycle
  • Overall responsibility for the safety of the employees working within manufacturing and maintenance
  • Managing manufacturing process quality; managing adherence to quality standards and managing non conforming products through the Q3 process
  • Being responsible for the delivery of Safety KPI’s including OSHEN reporting, Tool Box talks, Talk Safes, Work Place Inspections, PAVA’s, etc.
  • Supporting Engineering with the purchase of capital; including the creation of specifications, down selection of suppliers, release of funds, installation and validation

Your skills and experiences:

  • Degree in an Engineering/Operational Discipline or equivalent experience
  • Qualified in NEBOSH/IOSH and/or Environmental Managing Safety (or working towards)
  • Experience in leading manufacturing production, in a targets driven environment
  • Ability to influence through effective negotiation, involvement and engagement with key stakeholders, earning trust from others and embracing teamwork
  • Experience in embedding and driving lean manufacturing to streamline processes and optimise resources in production

The Manufacturing team:

The role assumes joint accountability for production operations on the Washington site with the current Manufacturing Manager, ensuring we are delivering against the businesses strategy, and consistently achieving the key performance indicators.

Providing leadership to the plant via the Shift Leaders / LPL’s and Setter Leads cohort to guarantee effective and efficient day to day operations; to deliver against budgetary and operational KPI’s.

This role encompasses working across the business at all levels, liaising with Planning & Logisitics, Electrical/Automation, Site Services, Finance, Procurement and Engineering.
