Job summary

A global leader in engineering and manufacturing is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to enhance operational excellence within a world-class manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will lead Continuous Improvement projects, develop manufacturing processes, and implement error-proofing solutions. Applicants should have a degree in Engineering, experience in high-volume manufacturing, and familiarity with Lean methodologies. The role is permanent and full-time, located near Stevenage, with a salary of up to £55k plus bonus and benefits.

Qualifications

  • HND/Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial preferred).
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing (automotive or similar).
  • Practical exposure to Lean methodologies and problem-solving tools.

About the Manufacturing Engineer Role

Join a world-class manufacturing environment as a Manufacturing Engineer, driving operational excellence and eliminating inefficiencies across production processes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Continuous Improvement projects using Lean tools: Kaizen, SMED, Six Sigma, 5S, 8D, Value Stream Mapping
  • Develop and optimise manufacturing processes to meet quality standards
  • Implement robust process controls and error-proofing solutions
  • Support new product development from concept to launch
  • Specify and validate equipment, tooling, and fixtures
  • Drive cost reduction through process optimisation and value engineering
  • Prepare CapEx reports with justification and cost analysis
  • Contribute to capital investment planning and execution
Requirements
  • HND/Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial preferred)
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing (automotive or similar)
  • Practical exposure to Lean methodologies and problem-solving tools
  • Knowledge of automated assembly systems, tooling and test equipment
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt advantageous
  • Experience with CapEx projects beneficial
