Job summary

A global high-tech manufacturer in Bristol is seeking an Assembly Technician to join their manufacturing team. You will be responsible for various tasks including manual soldering of electronic components, visual inspections, and operating CNC machines. The ideal candidate should possess A-level or NVQ qualifications and experience in electronic assembly. Job description
Assembly Technician – KLA

At KLA we design, develop, and manufacture high‑tech capital equipment for the global semiconductor industry. In this role you’ll be working in our high‑performing manufacturing team to build and assemble our complex processing equipment at our state‑of‑the‑art facility in Newport, South Wales.

Responsibilities
  • Manual soldering/wire bonding of small electronic components using a microscope onto printed circuit board or flex circuit.
  • Handle or attach small components (die, capacitors, resistors) using tweezers and in‑house build fixtures.
  • Mix compounds to perform manual coating, bonding & encapsulation processes on silicon wafers.
  • Cut, weld and form 40 Guage wire.
  • Visual inspection using a microscope (20×) for dies, resistors, capacitors to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Attach small components onto wafer or flex circuit.
  • Perform IQC/OQC visual inspections on raw parts (flex, PCBA, silicon substrate).
  • Operate fixturing/tooling or hand‑held electronic equipment (voltmeter, caliper, oscilloscope) to test cable assembly or electronic assembly boxes.
  • Handle dilute chemical solutions (IPA, DI water, acetone, epoxy) to clean products.
  • Operate CNC machines depending on production needs.
  • Assemble equipment from start to finish and comply with technical specifications.
Qualifications & Experience
  • A‑level or NVQ level qualification(s) preferred.
  • Experience in small device assembly, electronic assembly and soldering.
  • Ability to read assembly drawings, instructions and basic blueprints.
  • Manufacturing or shop‑floor environment experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
