The Company

Our client is a specialist and well-known event management sector business that operates throughout the country. This highly successful company is known for its provision of event infrastructure such as marquees, installations and temporary buildings, operating from branches throughout the UK.

The Role – Managing Director

As part of a Senior Leadership Team, there is the strategic requirement to recruit a Managing Director for this specialist events company.

Core Responsibilities

The key role and responsibilities entail:

  • Develop and implement a clear, cohesive strategy for growth, expansion, and overall business success, aligned with long-term goals and board objectives.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of all depots, ensuring efficient processes, effective stock management, and strong depot collaboration.
  • Take full P&L ownership, driving commercial performance, cost control, margin improvement, and managing budgets
  • Build and maintain a culture of accountability, high performance, and shared values across all sites, creating an accountable management structure.
  • Identify new opportunities for revenue growth, implement innovative solutions to enhance operations, and foster a continuous improvement mindset.
Required Expertise & Traits
  • Proven events management sector sales and commercial leadership experience, ideally in a complex, multi-site people-driven business
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, cost control, and the ability to drive profitability
  • Experience in developing and executing business plans
  • Knowledge of supply chain, logistics, stock management, and how to effectively manage multiple locations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A commercially astute operator capable of both detailed operational management and high-level strategic planning
