Job Description

As the Environmental Manager, you will be responsible for leading the site‑based environmental programs and compliance assurance and champion improvement initiatives. You will develop and implement environmental strategies, manage permits and licenses, and serve as the point of contact with regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure site compliance with AbbVie’s global environmental policies, technical standards, and all applicable regulations, Air Emissions, Wastewater, Stormwater, SPCC, RCRA Hazardous Waste (LQG), EPCRA Tier II and TRI, TUR, etc.
  • Oversee environmental monitoring and prepare required compliance reports.
  • Provide business perspective, strategic and tactical direction to develop and implement ENV initiatives for the EHS Long‑range plan.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Global EHS to set and achieve environmental targets.
  • Manage all environmental permits, registrations, and licenses for the site.
  • Lead site response and resolution of environmental issues with regulators.
  • Continuously identify and implement improvements to minimize environmental risks.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports to AbbVie Global EHS and relevant agencies.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with ISO certifications and site licenses and compliance reporting.
  • Perform risk assessments of the site’s environmental operations and develop procedures and training.
  • Evaluate environmental impacts of new processes and products and support management of change.
  • Advise and train management and staff on environmental management practices.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies to support future site needs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science and Technology, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 5–12 years’ experience in environmental management and compliance in manufacturing or pharmaceutical settings.
  • Proven track record in implementing EHS compliance programs, conducting risk analyses, investigating incidents, and leading cross‑functional teams.
  • Ability to develop practical standards and policies to meet business needs.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and business skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Motivated self‑starter with problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, adaptability, and integrity.

Additional Information
  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
  • We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
  • This job is eligible to participate in our short‑term incentive programs.
