Job description

Our Corporate Tax specialists within the EY Private and Mid‑market team work with a wide range of businesses—including OMBs, multi‑generational family businesses, PE‑backed and AIM‑listed companies—at various stages of the business life cycle, from start‑up to established multinational. Our work is a combination of tax advisory and compliance, including advice on M&A structuring, exit planning, group re‑organisations, expansion into overseas territories, and more. Most importantly, you will build and maintain trusted relationships with clients and act as their day‑to‑day contact to ensure access to the breadth of services available at EY.

Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious individual to join EY’s Corporate Tax team based in either Luton or Cambridge. The successful candidate will work with our excellent existing clients, expanding their network and contributing to new business growth. We are looking for experienced Tax Managers with a focus/background in Corporate Tax, a proven track record of building trusted relationships, and a passion for delivering exceptional client service.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients.
  • Proactively develop business opportunities to add value to existing and new clients.
  • Manage delivery of technically complex and demanding consulting projects, ensuring technical excellence and a practical, business‑driven approach.
  • Provide development support to junior team members through effective supervision, coaching and mentoring.
  • Contribute to people initiatives, including retention and training.
  • Act as client‑driven, strategically and commercially aware adviser.
  • Demonstrate strong Corporate Tax technical skills.
  • Show strong client relationship management skills and produce high‑quality outputs.
  • Employ negotiation skills, sustaining opinions and handling challenges.
  • Use business‑development skills to identify and convert opportunities.
  • Manage time effectively, remaining calm under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Communicate excellently in written and oral settings.
  • Possess good knowledge of advising a range of companies—including listed, PE‑backed, family‑owned and OMBs.
Qualifications – Required
  • ACA / CA / CTA / Tax Inspector with full Technical Training course / Law qualification / Tax specialist qualification or equivalent breadth of knowledge.
  • Strong tax technical skills.
  • Business‑development skills to generate new work.
  • Experience in coaching and developing junior staff.
Qualifications – Preferred
  • Project‑management skills to plan, prioritise work, meet deadlines and monitor budgets.
  • Creative and pragmatic problem‑solving, recognising tax technical and commercial implications.
