About the role

The Management Accountant plays a pivotal role in delivering accurate and timely financial information, supporting departmental budgeting and forecasting, ensuring statutory compliance, and driving continuous improvement across financial processes. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional with strong analytical capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the organisation.

Key responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
  • Prepare and post monthly journals, including intercompany recharges and P&L adjustments.
  • Review and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and lead schedules.
  • Produce and analyse management accounts, providing insightful variance analysis and commentary for stakeholders.
Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Lead the preparation of monthly consolidated departmental reports.
  • Partner with department heads to develop, review, and refine budgets.
Month-End & Year-End Activities
  • Manage the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial information.
  • Prepare lead schedules and year-end working papers to support audit requirements.
Taxation & Compliance
  • Prepare and submit Group VAT returns via Sage, including reconciliations and necessary adjustments.
  • Support the preparation of corporation tax and R&D tax submissions.
Payroll & Employee Data
  • Process payroll journals and review payroll reports for accuracy.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
  • Support BAU activities for EBL's AP/AR functions, including the maintenance of customer, supplier, and staff data.
Business Partnering

Collaborate closely with department heads to review performance, budgets, and forecasts.

Systems & Controls
  • Oversee company card and staff expense processes, implementing updates, improvements, and training initiatives.
Continuous Improvement & Supervision
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities across finance functions.

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Analytical, ability to drill into the numbers and understand their meaning
  • Proficient in finance systems (Sage Intacct preferred) and strong Excel skills (Power Query a plus)
