Description

We are looking for a Management Accountant to join our Commercial Finance team. The role will be responsible for producing accurate and timely monthly management accounts for a newly acquired entity, and supporting other entities and contract accounts. The role will include preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and preparation of internal reporting outputs.

You will also be responsible for analysis and reconciliations between the monthly and weekly reporting outputs for your defined entities, understanding and presenting this analysis to finance colleagues and key stakeholders. You should be driven to identify and implement changes to ensure the processes are better aligned and operate efficiently within finance and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet, variance analysis and commentaries in line with reporting deadlines
  • Ownership of month end balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all are completed within agreed deadlines and review of certain reconciliations
  • Provide accurate and meaningful analysis and supporting data to assist with key decision‑making, showing a thorough understanding of business operations
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the Commercial Finance Team to ensure the execution of the strategic and operational objectives that apply to own area of internal reporting responsibility
  • Support ad hoc projects as designated
  • Ensure compliance with all financial controls, processes and regulatory framework
  • Proactively own and resolve issues including any business non‑compliance through adopting a flexible approach and the creation of innovative solutions, which maintain an acceptable balance between risk, reward, and compliance
  • Proactively identify improvements (through root cause analysis), making recommendations and successfully implementing new ways of working, gaining the full support of stakeholders and colleagues alike
  • Ensure the team always provide a high level of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Weekly review of cost adjustments made by the commercial and operational teams through weekly P&L’s
Experience and Qualifications

Part‑qualified accountant, studying advanced level accounting exams (ACA / CIMA / AC‑CA)

Previous accounting experience

Intermediate Excel, Power Point and Word

Problem solving and analytical skills

Continuous improvement mentality with the ability to challenge existing processes

Excellent understanding and working knowledge of accounting and reporting systems, applicable legislation and the statutory and regulatory framework

Awareness of Financial Reporting Standards and other developments within global accounting practices and the ability to apply within the company
