Peter Knight Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Management Accountant for a social housing provider in the Hertford area. The role owns day-to-day integrity of accounting records and monthly finance processes, and handles complex finance queries.

You will take ownership of a defined area of responsibility, design and embed improved processes, and have genuine input into how the finance function develops, with potential progression toward Finance Manager responsibilities.

Job description

Management Accountant £45k to £50k

My client is a fully managed and maintained social housing provider / agent for local authorities and/or housing associations and, ultimately, their tenants.

They are now seeking to find an additional team member to join them in their newly refurbished offices in the Hertford area.

The Management Accountant will take day-to-day ownership of the integrity of the accounting records and monthly finance processes, including ownership of complex day-to-day finance queries and the prioritisation and follow-through of credit control.

The role needs somebody who can be given an area of responsibility and take ownership of it. They should be comfortable investigating an issue before escalating it and forming a reasoned view.

Some processes are already clear. Others still need to be designed, documented, improved and embedded. The successful candidate should find that appealing rather than frustrating. They will have genuine input into how the finance department develops.

This role has the potential to develop naturally towards Finance Manager-level responsibilities.

Progression will come as the individual demonstrates sustained ownership, sound judgement and reliability to the point that the Finance Director can delegate increasingly significant areas with less direct monitoring.
