Job summary

Absolute Recruit Ltd. is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join its finance team in North Herts. The role covers monthly management accounts, reporting, and core accounting across multiple entities, with responsibility for a small finance team.

You will work closely with the Financial Controller on process improvements, VAT and international tax-related tasks, and broader finance projects while maintaining strong financial controls and accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• Strong management accounting and month-end experience.
• Actively studying ACCA or ACA is preferred.
• Experience within an international or multi-entity environment would be beneficial.
• Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations, journals and financial controls.
• Confident working with stakeholders across the wider business.
• Experience improving finance processes and procedures.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Producing monthly management accounts to agreed deadlines.
• Preparing month-end journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
• Reviewing the general ledger and ensuring accurate financial information.
• Investigating and reporting on variances against budgets and forecasts.
• Managing and supporting members of the finance team.
• Reviewing and processing supplier payment runs.
• Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns.
• Managing fixed asset accounting and reporting.
• Supporting cash flow forecasting and wider financial reporting.
• Working with external accountants and auditors during year-end.
• Supporting international VAT and tax-related processes.
• Reviewing existing accounting processes, controls and procedures.
• Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and strengthen financial operations.

Working Pattern: 4 days in office

We're working with a growing international business looking to appoint an experienced Management Accountant to join their finance team.

This is a broad role with responsibility for monthly management accounts, reporting and core accounting activities across multiple entities. You'll also manage members of the finance team and work closely with the Financial Controller on process improvements and wider finance projects.
