Qualifications

Job description

The Maintenance Operative will be responsible for carrying out essential maintenance tasks at both child and adult services and carry out essential health & safety checks when required. The operative will attend various site locations to perform essential maintenance tasks and work in conjunction with contractors to ensure that services are maintained to an expected standard.

  • Organize, carry out, and oversee maintenance duties across Autism Anglia sites, including minor repairs, outdoor work, and preparation for events.
  • Ensure adherence to H&S rules, perform safety checks, manage hazards, secure buildings, and support emergency responses as required.
  • Work with contractors, management, and local teams to coordinate maintenance activities and implement effective solutions.
  • Monitor maintenance costs, communicate material and equipment needs, and ensure proper use and safety of tools and resources.
  • Perform minor maintenance on organizational vehicles and ensure equipment and tools are maintained safely.
  • Act in line with safeguarding policies, report incidents promptly, and follow health, safety, and organizational procedures.
  • Maintain secure access to sites, act as a named key holder, and liaise with security services to ensure premises safety.
  • Attend training, meetings, and provide assistance to other sites, demonstrating commitment to the charity's values and principles.
  • Have experience in building maintenance work such as heating, plumbing, joinery, electrical fittings etc.
  • Hold a full UK manual driving licence.
  • Knowledge of general Health and Safety regulations in the workplace.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of how to use range of DIY and maintenance equipment.
  • Strongtimemanagement,abilityforplanning and prioritizing, with goodbasic IT skills, e.g., email, simple spreadsheets, Word, Outlook diary etc.

Up to £28,000 FTE, depending on experience.

Hours: We are considering both full time and part time candidates. Full-time: 35 hours per week. Part-time: from 15 hours per week.
