A family-run hotel group in Peebles is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance team and ensure high standards of guest experience. We’re set right at the heart of the Scottish Borders and offer a great place to relax, unwind and magically shut off from the pressures of modern life. We’ve been welcoming guests for well over 100 years but today is home to 132 bedrooms, 3 places to eat, 6 function spaces, leisure club, spa and oodles of outdoor space.
We’re looking to recruit a hands‑on Maintenance Manager to join our team. We have our own maintenance team on site so we can respond to our guests needs quickly. We fix remedial problems and have a planned maintenance programme. The site needs to be maintained and presented to a high standard, and that’s where you’ll come in. You’ll head up a team who have a varied workload and be able to turn your hand to general day to day repairs to assist the team complete the ever changing workload.
This is a full time, 40 hours per week position with weekend work on a rotation basis. As we are a 24/7 operation, some out‑of‑hours work may be required in emergencies or for planned maintenance.
You’ll bring strong practical skills and a good understanding of building services. Previous management experience is essential, along with a working knowledge of painting, joinery, plumbing, and general building works. A solid grasp of Health & Safety standards is also key.
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, works well as part of a team, and approaches challenges with a positive attitude in a fast‑paced environment. As you’ll regularly interact with our guests, excellent customer service skills are a must – you’ll be an ambassador for Peebles Hydro. Strong communication skills are also important for liaising with external contractors, colleagues, and senior managers.
You’ll need excellent computer skills for managing Health & Safety records, maintenance requests, compliance documentation, and using computer‑aided facilities management software.
Experience with private water supplies and biomass heating systems would be a bonus.
