Job description
Overview

Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading organisation in the power generation sector to recruit a Maintenance Manager to work at an Energy from Waste facility in Dundee. This crucial Maintenance Manager role comes with a competitive salary of up to £75,000 plus benefits such as £7,500 car allowance, pension, private medical insurance and bonus up to 12.5%.

Responsibilities and duties
  • Reporting to the Facility Manager, you will lead and develop a team of multi-skilled technicians, embedding a culture of safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage all aspects of plant maintenance to maximise availability and efficiency.
  • Plan and oversee maintenance outages, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Take responsibility for procurement, contractor management, and ensuring value for money across maintenance activities.
  • Monitor budgets and expenditure, contributing to long-term financial planning.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, company policies, and industry standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001, 55001).
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver maintenance strategies and improvement projects.
  • Maintain oversight of critical spares and stock control to support reliability.
Professional qualifications
  • Degree or HND in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent).
  • Proven leadership in a maintenance or engineering role within a power station or similar heavy process industry (EfW, Biomass, CCGT, Refinery, Petrochemical, Marine, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of statutory compliance, including PSSR, LOLER, and PUWER.
  • Experience with rotating plant, steam systems, and balance of plant equipment.
  • Proficiency with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Personal skills
  • The Maintenance Manager role would suit someone who has excellent leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.

Salary and benefits

Up to £75,000 per year + 12.5% bonus, 10% pension, £7,500 per annum car allowance. Company benefits package. Full-time, site-based role (40 hours per week).
