Maintenance Electrician

Our client, a small to medium sized manufacturing business, have an immediate requirement to recruit a well‑versed Maintenance Electrician to join their team.

Overview

The role involves providing hands‑on support in maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving plant equipment, must have strong focus on electrical systems while supporting mechanical tasks as required.

The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring maximum uptime of critical electroplating lines, ancillary equipment, and supporting utilities, while maintaining compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on a wide range of electrical and electro‑mechanical equipment including plating lines, rectifiers, pumps, motors, compressed air and control panels.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults, control wiring, drives, sensors, and instrumentation.
  • Support mechanical repairs such as pumps, pipework, and hydraulics as required.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained to achieve maximum efficiency and reliability, minimizing downtime.
  • Work closely with production teams to identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects and modifications to improve reliability, safety, and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation in line with company procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental requirements, particularly regarding chemical handling and plating operations.
  • Liaise with external contractors and suppliers when required.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Time‑served Electrical Engineer with 18th edition.
  • Proven experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical fault finding and repair, including motors, drives, control circuits, and PLCs.
  • Good understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and engineering drawings.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Awareness of health, safety, and environmental compliance within a manufacturing.
Desirable Skills
  • Able to showcase experience of working in an industrial environment.
  • PLC programming/modification experience.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, TPM, or continuous improvement initiatives.

In this role, you will be expected to work 07:45 - 16:15 Monday to Thursday and 7am - 1pm on a Friday.

In return you can expect a basic package of £43k - £48k dependant on previous experience.
