Shift Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £50,450 per annum

Shift Pattern: 2 sets of 3 days on / 3 days off (08:00-20:00) and 1 set of 3 nights on / 3 nights off (20:00-08:00)

Location: Scottish Borders, UK (On-site)

Role Overview

As a Shift Maintenance Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring continuous operation of production systems while supporting preventive and reactive maintenance activities. You'll be part of a dedicated team providing 24/7 engineering cover, ensuring maximum uptime and applying best-practice engineering standards across the site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete accurate and informative helpdesk and PPM reports, suggesting improvements where needed
  • Manage stock, including issuing parts and maintaining appropriate specifications
  • Provide clear handovers between shifts
  • Carry out breakdowns and repairs efficiently, ensuring high-quality work within expected timeframes
  • Review completed tasks to maintain standards and equipment longevity
  • Ensure parts meet quality standards and maintain sufficient stock for future needs
Your Profile
  • Time-served or qualified in mechanical and/or electrical engineering (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
  • Experience in food manufacturing or FMCG environments preferred
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organisational abilities
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in English literacy and numeracy
