Qualifications

What is the job?

This is an ideal opportunity to join the largest generator specialist in the South West, whose head offices are based in Bristol. We are currently looking for a hardworking and reliable Maintenance Engineer who is organised, has excellent attention to detail and can work well under pressure.

This is a varied and busy role which covers all aspects of maintenance, so you must have good all-round handyperson skills. The successful candidate will have experience in general maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and other related tasks

What will you be doing in this role?
  • Carry out routine maintenance as required to buildings and outside areas. Working closely with maintenance teams to carry out general building maintenance duties.
  • Responsible for organising the storage of all new hire fleet and sales equipment to ensure that the workshop areas are well organised and kept tidy
  • Responsible for moving and loading of equipment / liaising with yard to ensure equipment is dispatched by internal or external transport
  • Carry out site visits to assess or carry out positioning or removal of equipment.
  • Maintain all workshop and yard areas.
  • Carry out various additional tasks for all departments
  • Comply with the company health and safety policy, including carrying out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are tidy. This includes company vehicles.
  • Comply with all aspects of the company quality and environmental management standards (ISO 9001 : 2015, ISO 14001 : 2015) and occupational health and safety management best practice, proactively contributing to the company’s continuous improvement programme.
Skills and requirements
Essential
  • A building maintenance / electrical / plumbing / carpentry qualification or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a property maintenance or general repairs role.
  • Friendly and approachable, with a good understanding of general building maintenance including, heating, hot and cold-water distribution, ventilation, electrics, plumbing, painting and carpentry.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A full driving licence is essential for this role.
Desirable
  • Holder of current CSCS / CPCS / NPORS card
  • Forklift licence
  • MEWP (static / mobile vertical / boom lift) licences
  • Banksman / Slinger lifting operations training
  • Training can be given for the above
