Job summary

A leading aluminium casting and machining company in Welshpool is seeking a CNC Miller Setter/Operator. In this role, you'll be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC machines. You will work closely with engineers to ensure efficient machining operations. Experience with CNC machines is preferred, but training will be provided. The shift pattern is '3 on, 4 off', with additional benefits including life insurance and training opportunities.

CastAlum is an internationally acclaimed aluminium die casting and machining centre located in Welshpool, UK. The site was a Greenfield development in the winter of 2000-2001, serving one customer only.

20 years on, the company supplies parts to the UK, Europe, Canada, and Mexico. We have grown from die casting aluminium parts only to supplying a range of products (using high pressure die casting, squeeze die casting, and machining). We can supply aluminium components as cast, cast & machined, or assembled & tested according to the needs of our customers.

90% of all our production is for export, with our components going into vehicles produced by VAG, BMW, Ford, General Motors, Fiat, Renault, Porsche, Mercedes, Jaguar Land Rover, AML and other prestigious marques, as well as non-automotive customers.

Job Description

As a CNC Miller Setter/Operator your role involves the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC machines. Your experience in machine setup, and precision machining will ensure the production of high-quality parts that meet strict industry standards and specifications. You will work closely with engineers, and other manufacturing personnel to achieve efficient and accurate machining operations.

Responsibilities:

• Setting and operating of CNC machines.
• Working to close tolerances
• Directly involved in continuous improvement programs and quality control.

Skills and Experience:

• Experience in setting and operating CNC machines preferred but not necessary as training will be given, including installing workpieces, fixtures, cutting tools.
• Ability to select and install appropriate cutting tools, tool holders, and fixtures for the machining process.
• Must be self-motivated, shows initiative, has the ability to problem solve and work alone.
• A sound working knowledge and understanding of machine tooling and proper tool usage.
• Knowledge and experience in operating CNC machines, specifically Siemens 840D Controls preferred
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications desirable

Shift Pattern: "3 on, 4 off" (Rotating Days/Nights)

• Work 3 consecutive shifts (either days or nights)
