Job summary

A global manufacturing leader in Runcorn is seeking a skilled Machine Setter to join their team. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, experience with various packaging machinery, and an ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment. An immediate start is available after a successful interview, with potential for permanent placement. Candidates with NVQ Level 3 in engineering will be at an advantage.

Qualifications

  • Experience with counted bottle/tube filling and blister packing.
  • Ability to identify and resolve machine defects.
  • Experience with capping, check weighers, flow wrapping, and labelling machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare machines for production to ensure efficiency.
  • Problem solve to optimize machine output.
  • Conduct maintenance on machinery and enforce Health and Safety policies.

Skills

High degree of mechanical aptitude
Fault finding
Experience with packaging machinery
Understanding of manuals and parts from drawings
Experience with pneumatics

Education

NVQ Level 3 in engineering

Exciting new opportunity available in Runcorn!

Our client, a leading UK & Global manufacturer is looking to recruit an experienced Machine Setter to work at their dedicated & committed team.

This role requires a mechanically minded person who can fault‑find, prioritise and rectify multiple issues on a variety of machinery.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare machines prior to production to ensure timely and efficient production of high quality product
  • Change over and set packing lines to meet production requirements
  • Problem solve and resolve issues to optimise each machine in order to achieve maximum output
  • Perform adjustments mid‑production run and conduct reactive and planned preventative maintenance on machinery
  • Always adhere to Health and Safety policy and GMP
  • Safeguard the health and wellbeing of yourself, your colleagues and the safety and protection of Company manufactured products
  • Carry out additional duties as required
Desired experience / skills
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude, engineering knowledge and skill
  • Experience with counted bottle / tube filling, blister packing, capping, check weighers, flow wrapping and labelling machinery
  • Experience in fault finding, identifying and resolving machine defects and temporary repairs
  • Ability to understand operating / maintenance manuals and identify machine parts from drawings
  • Experience with pneumatics, reed switches and positional sensors
  • NVQ Level 3 in engineering is advantageous
Hours of work
  • 0600–1415 Monday to Thursday & 0600–1200 Friday
  • 1400–2215 Monday to Thursday & 1145–1745 Friday
Additional information

An immediate start is available after successful interview, and this role will go permanent after a successful qualifying period.
