Job description

We are looking for a Machine Operator for a global food packaging company in Poole. This is a permanent position. The hourly rate is £15.26 per hour which includes shift allowance. 42 hours per week (average). The shift pattern will start on standard 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday to allow for the training period then will move onto a 2‑week cycle of days and nights.

Shift Pattern
  • Week 1 (Days 6am‑6pm): Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
  • Week 2 (Days 6am‑6pm): Wednesday, Thursday
  • Week 3 (Nights 6pm‑6am): Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
  • Week 4 (Nights 6pm‑6am): Wednesday, Thursday
  • Then revert back to week 1. Sunday is counted as the first day of the week so you are paid 48 hours in the first week and 36 in the second.
Role
  • Packing products into boxes for dispatch
  • Setting and operating plastic extrusion machinery
  • Setting and operating granulation machinery
  • Checking machinery for blocks and stoppages
  • Checking and monitoring the quality of plastic products and packaging
  • Keeping work areas tidy
  • Stores area (only occasional cover required)
  • Counter‑balance forklift (advantage; training will be given)
  • Bendi forklift (desirable; full training will be given for a committed candidate)
Tasks & Responsibilities

RF hand‑held computers are used to record movements of stock and materials throughout the site. Stores people must be competent in using them to accurately record the stock movements they make.

Goods in – unloading and storage of raw materials and finished product:

  • Unload goods delivered by suppliers; ensure the accuracy of the delivery note against what is delivered.
  • Move to and record the movement into the appropriate storage location.
  • Machine operating – granulation machine setting and operating.
