Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work closely with our existing Dermatology team. The appointee will conduct out‑patients clinics and procedures and provide inpatient care. Dermatology ward referral time has been built into the timetable to allow the appointee to support Dermatology ward reviews. The post holder will supervise and support our Dermatology nurses, associate specialists and specialty doctors, all of whom are based at Hertford County Hospital but provide cover across the Trust sites. In addition to supporting the existing service the appointee is encouraged to propose ideas for service improvement and development.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications / Training
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register
  • College membership (MRCP) or qualification of an equivalent level
  • College Fellowship
Desirable
  • Postgraduate academic degree
Previous Experience
  • Broad range of experience in Dermatology, in particular experience in management of cutaneous cancer with surgical skills and experience of biological treatments
  • Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues
  • Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion
  • Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice

  • Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors.
