A large health organization in Wales is seeking a part-time Locum Consultant Histopathologist. This role involves contributing to routine diagnostic Histopathology services and requires a broad experience in Histopathology with a special interest in breast pathology. The successful candidate will perform consent and Coroner's post-mortems at Glan Clwyd Hospital and engage in audit and quality assurance activities. Candidates must have GMC registration and a proactive approach to teamwork and multi-disciplinary collaboration.
This is a Locum Consultant Histopathologist part‑time vacancy to meet the demands of the service.
The successful applicant would be expected to develop a special interest in an area of cancer pathology, including Lead Pathologist responsibilities, and this would be expected to complement those of the existing Consultant Pathologists. Special interest in breast pathology and/or dermatopathology would be desirable. Interests in non‑cancer pathology are also welcomed. Currently all consultants maintain a wide interest in general Histopathology reporting.
The successful applicant will contribute to the provision of a routine comprehensive diagnostic Histopathology Service for the Health Board and will be based at Glan Clwyd Hospital. It is essential that the successful candidates undertake consent and Coroner's post‑mortems on an agreed, equitable rota basis with consultant colleagues. The successful candidate will be expected to take part in audit, internal quality assurance schemes, teaching and other related subjects. It is expected that reporting of all cancer specimens will conform to Wales Cancer Standards. The histopathology commitment involves the provision of a comprehensive histopathological service to BCUHB. The cytopathology commitment, if pursued, involves the provision of a non‑gynaecological service to BCUHB.
