A healthcare provider in the UK seeks a Locum Consultant in Geriatrics to cover maternity leave in the Older People's Medicine department. Responsibilities include daily ward rounds, teaching medical students, and participating in research. Candidates must have Full GMC Registration and a CCT in Geriatric Medicine. The position offers development opportunities and supports a healthy work-life balance. Experience in movement disorders is welcomed, and there is no on-call responsibility.
An opportunity has arisen for a fixed term Locum Consultant to join our Older People's Medicine department to cover maternity leave, provisionally from 1st March 2026 until 31st October. The post is to cover a general geriatric ward with 22 patients and to contribute to frailty sessions.
We expect daily consultant presence on the acute wards with daily MDT board rounds and review of new admissions and unwell patients and twice weekly ward rounds. We support a 7-day acute frailty service and frailty virtual ward as well as weekly ward rounds of our community inpatients.
We would welcome any applicants with movement disorder experience. There is no requirement to contribute to the GIM rota and no on-call responsibility.

Teaching and development of medical students and trainees is an integral part of the role as well as participation in research and audit activities in the department. Duties may also include teaching, lectures or workshops for other departments, nurses, GPs and others.
