Job summary

SumUp is seeking experienced field sales consultants to drive new merchant acquisition within a local territory. This self-employed, commission-only role focuses on walking into businesses, engaging owners, and closing the sale of SumUp’s payment, POS, and software solutions.

You’ll prospect, demo products, handle objections, and manage onboarding for customers, building a network of local business owners and referrals.

Qualifications

• Essential: At least one year of field sales experience within sectors such as telecoms, energy, business technology, waste management, security systems or food and beverage supply.
• Essential: Cold prospecting experience, including approaching businesses face to face and finding your own leads.
• Essential: Experience selling to small and medium sized businesses and dealing directly with owners or decision makers.
• Essential: A track record of winning new customers and meeting sales targets, with examples.
• Essential: Ability to manage a sale from first approach to closing, including handling questions and objections.
• Essential: Good organisation and consistent follow up.
• Essential: Understanding of self employment and commitment to build customer base.
• Essential: Base location within easy reach of territory for regular meetings.

Responsibilities

• Find new customers through face-to-face visits, door-to-door prospecting and direct outreach.
• Focus on local businesses with strong payment volumes that would benefit from SumUp’s products.
• Ask questions about how each business works and recommend suitable payment, card-processing, hardware, POS and software solutions.
• Manage the sale from the first conversation through product demonstrations, objections and closing.
• Help customers get set up and start using their SumUp products.
• Build relationships with business owners and ask satisfied customers for referrals.
• Plan visits and follow-ups to optimize time in the territory.
• Keep CRM records up to date and track activity, pipeline and sales results.
• Review progress with Territory Manager and apply feedback.
