Job summary

Serco is recruiting on behalf of Birmingham Community Leisure Trust to fill a Receptionist position at Erdington Leisure Centre in Birmingham. You will be the welcoming face, handling registrations, inquiries and bookings while promoting memberships and services that support healthier lives.

The role involves operating front‑of‑house systems, handling payments, and maintaining accurate records. You will work Sunday shifts every third week, contributing to a busy, customer‑facing environment and

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Comfortable using computer systems and learning new digital processes.
• Able to remain calm and professional when working in a busy environment.
• Experience working with high volumes of customers in a customer-facing setting.
• A positive team player who takes pride in delivering great service and creating impactful solutions for customers.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and provide excellent customer service both in person and over the telephone.
• Operate front‑of‑house systems, process payments, issue receipts and follow financial procedures.
• Balance daily income and support banking processes in line with established procedures.
• Manage facility bookings and assist customers with enquiries and service information.
• Promote and sell memberships, swimming lessons and other leisure services available across the Trust.
• Support marketing activities by displaying promotional materials and helping to raise awareness of services and activities.
• Follow health and safety procedures and contribute to a safe, clean and welcoming environment for all users.
