A well-established legal practice is seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer with specific expertise in handling Employment Tribunal claims (Respondent) to join its Employment Department. This role involves managing a varied contentious caseload while also providing ongoing employment law and HR-related advice to a portfolio of retained clients. Key Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse Employment Tribunal caseload (predominantly Respondent defence work), making up approximately 2530% of the role.
- Provide commercial, solution-focused HR and employment law advice to employers subscribed to a retained support service.
- Support around 2025 retained business clients, including organisations such as independent schools, care providers, and medical practices.
- Deliver bespoke employment documentation and HR support, including on-site attendances and co-chairing employee hearings when required.
- Deliver HR and employment law training sessions to managers and client teams.
- Maintain high standards of client service, ensuring cases and enquiries are handled efficiently, accurately, and professionally.
- Travel to client premises as required.
Requirements
- Proven track record of managing a varied Respondent Employment Tribunal caseload.
- Strong experience providing HR and employment law advice to employers.
- Previous experience working with professional sector clients is beneficial but not essential.
- Experience delivering employment and HR training is advantageous.
- Excellent organisational, written, and communication skills.
- Strong IT proficiency, including MS Office; experience with case management systems is desirable.
- High attention to detail and strong file management capabilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and adopt a proactive, solution-driven approach.
- Full driving licence and access to own vehicle (due to client site visits).
