Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Legal Advisor for a multi-utility network in Central Surrey. This role involves leading negotiations for various legal agreements, supervising junior legal staff, and addressing legal risks in utility projects. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in commercial contracts and the utilities sector, strong negotiation and communication skills, and a proven ability to manage legal transactions effectively. Work is hybrid, requiring 1-2 days per week in the office.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing and negotiating leasehold and freehold purchase and sales.
  • Experience dealing with easements, deeds of covenants, and licenses to alter.
  • Commercial contract negotiation experience.
  • Experience supervising or managing junior members of staff.

LEGAL ADVISOR – UTILITIES

CENTRAL SURREY (1-2 DAYS PER WEEK IN OFFICE)

PERMANENT ROLE

£60,000 BASIC SALARY

Role Overview :

Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment are presently representing a UK based multi-utility network utilities provider in their search for a Legal Advisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading on the negotiation of a range of agreements from instruction to completion. You would supervise other, more junior members of the legal team and be responsible for identifying and advising on legal risks and implementing appropriate mitigations.

Key Accountabilities :
  • Manage utilities leases, transfers and wayleaves, from instruction to completion.
  • Provide instructions to external counsel on land rights projects.
  • Develop and draft bespoke contracts terms for land rights
  • Be involved in the negotiation of the legal framework supporting major and minor Gas / Electricity / Water / Heat schemes
  • Supervise Paralegals and Legal Assistants on land rights transactions,
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders to provide updates and guidance on the status of legal matters.
About You :
  • Experience managing and negotiating leasehold and freehold purchase and sales.
  • Experience dealing with easements, deeds of covenants, licences to alter.
  • Experience dealing with the legalities of large scale residential and / or commercial developments.
  • Commercial contract negotiation experience
  • Experience within the energy and / or utility sector
  • Experience supervising or managing junior members of staff
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
