An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer to join the School of Engineering, Mathematics and Physics at UEA. Are you a high‑calibre, research‑excellent individual? Do you work in sensors, data, diagnostics and/or smart materials with renewable energy or circular economy applications? Are you able to develop engaging teaching materials in energy engineering and sustainability? Can you support growth in student numbers through advocacy for engineering and UEA?
You will receive support to develop your research profile, producing high quality proposals to secure external research funding and disseminate results through academic publications and conferences. You will be encouraged to work with local business to develop consultancy and research impact. Teaching is a key part of this role, and you will be mentored to deliver at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
You must have a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area, with experience of undergraduate teaching and student assessment. You will have a track record, appropriate to experience, of high‑quality publications and have produced research which has the potential to have an impact beyond academia. Evidence of successful grant applications are essential for appointment at Lecturer B. An ability to provide academic leadership and supervise PhD students would be advantageous.
This full‑time post is available from 20 April 2026 on an indefinite basis.
One appointment will be considered at either Lecturer A (grade 7) or Lecturer B (grade 8) dependent on skills and experience. Within your personal statement please specify the grade of role you would like to be considered for. You must be able to meet all the essential criteria for that grade set out in the Person Specification, full details can be found in the Candidate Brochure.
UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a full‑time basis, we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, compressed working hours, part time, job share, term‑time only and/or hybrid working.
