Southwark College requires a dedicated, enthusiastic and qualified person to take on the role of Lecturer in Business, IT and Mathematics. The post holder will teach and manage learning on a range of Business, IT and Access to HE Dip courses. The successful applicant will lead on the delivery of the course and be able to manage learner attendance and progress. Reporting to the Curriculum Manager, you will be committed to promoting excellence in the quality of standards of teaching and learning.

This post requires a strong background in Mathematics (GCSE and A Level), Business and IT and the candidate must have a proven track record of professional/vocational expertise in this sector. An ability to self‑manage workload, meet deadlines alongside strong oral and written communication skills and good IT skills are also essential. The hours of work will be flexible to 0.5 FTE and may include evening according to demand. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join a well‑motivated, cohesive and successful team.

  • Maintain accurate records of learner progress and engagement
  • Enhance curriculum and quality
  • Keep course content current and aligned with industry standards
  • Contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance processes
  • Collaborate and uphold standards
  • Work with colleagues and external partners to enrich the learner experience
  • Promote and uphold safeguarding, equality, and health and safety policies
What we're looking for:
  • A relevant subject qualification (e.g. degree or equivalent)
  • A recognised teaching qualification
  • Level 2 English and Maths (e.g. GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent)
  • The ability to plan and deliver effective, inclusive teaching for diverse learners
  • Knowledge of subject‑specific pedagogy and current teaching practices in further or higher education
  • Clear communication and strong organisational skills
  • Confidence using digital tools to support learning
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, and ongoing professional development
