SEN & Primary Learning Support Assistant - Newport

Vision for Education is seeking a caring, motivated, and enthusiastic SEN & Primary Learning Support Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Newport. About the role

As a SEN & Primary Learning Support Assistant in this welcoming school, you ll work across the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2. You will provide targeted support for pupils with a range of additional learning needs, both in mainstream classrooms and within designated ALN settings.

This is a varied and highly rewarding position where you ll play a vital role in helping pupils feel confident, supported, and fully included in school life every day.

Your key responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with ALN
  • Encourage pupil independence and support with personal care where required
  • Assist in managing behaviour using consistent, positive strategies tailored to ALN pupils
  • Help prepare learning resources and support classroom delivery
  • Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals to support pupil development
  • Promote an inclusive, safe, and respectful learning environment
Who we re looking for
  • Someone with experience working with children or young people, ideally in education or care
  • A calm, patient, and flexible individual with a genuine passion for supporting ALN pupils
  • Knowledge of ALN or a strong interest in developing inclusive practice
  • Confidence in managing behaviour in a positive and nurturing way
  • A strong team player with good communication skills
  • A driving licence and access to transport is helpful but not essential
