What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you a youth worker or newly qualified teaching assistant looking to develop experience? Or are you an experienced Primary School TA looking to explore working with older children?

Our opportunity

This role is ideal for youth workers or new teaching assistants looking to develop experience.

Meeting the needs of pupils at Whitby School has always been a very important part of our ethos. Whitby School is an inclusive school and aims to provide the support for all pupils.

In this role, you'll be the hero for students who need a little extra help. You'll work closely with small groups and individual students, guided by our amazing class teachers and Leadership Team. You will deliver engaging tasks set by teachers and senior staff, and inspire students to stay positive and motivated. It's all about creating a supportive and dynamic learning environment where every student can thrive.

We are looking for a LSA who:
  • Will be able to provide one-to-one, small group and in-class support for students, under the direction of the class teacher and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator.
  • Will be confident and empathetic working with students who have a range of support needs, which can include physical, learning, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Will have good literacy, numeracy and interpersonal skills and have experience of supporting and working with students with a range of additional learning needs.
  • Has suitable experience of working in a school environment with students and possesses an understanding of the importance of safeguarding children in a school setting.
