Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Learning Mentor to support pupils aged 11-19 with additional needs at a specialist SEN School and College in Bury. This full-time role involves mentoring, helping students build confidence, independence and classroom routines, and supporting them during lessons and transitions.

You will work closely with teachers, therapists and families to create a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people in education, care, youth work, residential care or similar settings.
  • Patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
  • Ability to support individuals with additional needs and behaviours that may challenge.
  • Comfortable providing personal care when required.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Build positive relationships with young people.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring.
  • Support students with social, emotional, behavioural and learning barriers.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Assist students to develop communication, social and life skills.
  • Promote confidence, self-esteem and independence.
  • Support students during lessons, enrichment activities and transitions throughout the day.
  • Provide personal care when required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, support staff and families.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers, build confidence, and achieve their goals?

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Mentor to join a specialist SEN School and College in Bury. This rewarding full-time role involves supporting young people aged 11-19 with a range of additional and complex needs across both secondary and post-16 education.

As a Learning Mentor, you'll be a positive role model, helping students develop the skills, confidence, and independence they need to thrive both in education and in everyday life.

Your Role
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with young people
  • Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring support tailored to individual needs
  • Support students with social, emotional, behavioural, and learning barriers
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Assist students to develop communication, social, and life skills
  • Promote confidence, self-esteem, and independence
  • Support students during lessons, enrichment activities, and transitions throughout the day

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
