Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Primary SEN Learning Mentor to support pupils with a range of SEND in a specialist primary provision in the Trafford area. This full-time role is available immediately and offers the chance to help children access learning and develop social skills.

You will work inside and outside the classroom to implement individual targets, monitor progress, and collaborate with teachers, therapists and parents.

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary SEN Learning Mentor to join a welcoming specialist primary provision in the Trafford area. This full-time role is available immediately and offers the chance to support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Global Developmental Delay, sensory needs, and associated behavioural challenges.

The Role

As a Primary SEN Learning Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom, helping them access learning, develop social skills, and achieve their individual goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Adapt learning activities to suit individual learning styles and needs.
• Support children with emotional regulation and behavioural challenges.
• Implement EHCP targets and individual support plans.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and social development.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
• Monitor progress and record observations to support pupil development.

What We're Looking For

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or additional needs.
• Backgrounds in education, care, youth work, mental health support, coaching, or residential care are highly desirable.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach.
• Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
• Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Relevant qualifications are beneficial but not essential for the right candidate.
