Overview
Learning & Development Design Partner – Wigan or Worcester (Hybrid working). 12-month Fixed Term contract with a potential extension. Up to £45,000 with additional car allowance. Location: Walthew House Lane, Martland Park. Sector: Education. Region: North West. Job Type: Contract.
What will the role involve?
- Oversee and maintain the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring accurate data, timely updates, and effective usage, while providing system support and liaising with the third-party provider on updates and communications.
- Monitor training compliance, maintain detailed records, and generate insightful reports for leadership.
- Develop a 12–18-month training calendar aligned with business needs, and design engaging e-learning modules, workshops, and resources that reflect the brand, values, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to create and update content that supports digital and blended learning initiatives.
- Source and coordinate external training providers to ensure high-quality, cost-effective solutions, while managing scheduling, logistics, and administration for both internal and external training programmes.
- Support the smooth delivery of leadership and colleague development initiatives, and coordinate Training Champion content across sites for client-specific materials (TBC).
- Track and monitor training completion, certification renewals, and expiration dates, proactively advising leaders and providing timely reporting to support effective compliance and performance management.
- Assist leaders in embedding learning into the workplace and support the administration and communication of the annual performance and development cycle.
- Coordinate the onboarding process for new colleagues and service partners, ensuring a consistent and engaging experience through up-to-date materials and programmes.
- Deliver induction training both virtually and in person, and facilitate small group sessions as needed (e.g., inductions, compliance, systems training).
- Build open, honest, and professional relationships with team members, colleagues, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Apply professional knowledge to your field, using sound judgment and established procedures to solve problems, and seek guidance from your manager when needed.
- Manage time effectively to meet individual and team deadlines and respond constructively to feedback from your line manager.
- Take ownership of your ongoing learning and development—both formal and informal—to deepen your understanding of the business and cross-functional priorities.
What we’re looking for
- Experience in a fast-paced, medium-sized transport environment with a strong background in L&D coordination, including managing third-party providers and stakeholder relationships.
- Skilled in managing Learning Management Systems (LMS), designing engaging learning content, and supporting onboarding and induction processes.
- Proficient in facilitating small group training sessions and delivering content both virtually and in person.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and interpersonal skills; collaborative team player who works well independently.
- Solution-focused, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement and professional development.
- Passionate about learning and supporting the growth of others, with a solid understanding of instructional design principles and experience using digital authoring tools (e.g., SafetyCulture, Articulate, Captivate).
- Holds a professional L&D or HR qualification (e.g., CIPD Level 3 or equivalent).
