Job summary

Immunocore is recruiting a Senior Scientist I - Characterisation within its CMC group in the Oxford area. The role focuses on developing and applying peptide mapping (LC-MS/MS) and mass spectrometry to characterise recombinant proteins and antibodies, including glycosylation analysis.

You will design experiments, interpret data, and contribute to strategy discussions across teams, driving improvements in analytical methods and product characterisation.

Qualifications

• Experience in development of HPLC based peptide mapping methods and mass spectrometric characterisation of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Experience of glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Characterisation of proteins expressed in microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of expected post-translational modifications in biological systems.
• Worked in a bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory environment.
• Established as an expert amongst peers in electrophoretic, chromatographic, or mass spectrometry techniques.
• Experience in assay development.
• Familiar with stability study principles.
• Collaborative in diverse teams; driven changes in practice.
• Presented detailed scientific findings to internal/external audiences.

Responsibilities

• Characterise drug substances and products using LC-MS/MS and related methods.
• Develop characterisation methods for biopharmaceutical products (peptide mapping, intact mass).
• Write and contribute study protocols and technical reports.
• Present research findings at meetings with colleagues and partners.
• Mentor and support on technical aspects to junior staff.
