This hands-on leadership position requires a degree in Product/Process Design Engineering and 5+ years' experience in engineering/manufacturing. Engineering Lead

Salary: £45,000 - £60,000

Our client is seeking an inspirational Engineering Lead to drive breakthrough improvements and uphold their uncompromising commitment to excellence.

The Role

This is a hands‑on leadership position, combining technical expertise with team management. You will lead the Engineering Design team, ensuring new product developments are delivered on time and to the highest standards. Working closely with Marketing and Operations, you will transform advanced concepts into exquisite products, while maintaining design governance and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Engineering Design team to deliver critical projects.
  • Ensure design principles across functionality, cost, quality, compliance, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to progress new and special product designs.
  • Champion innovation and industry‑first inventions.
  • Maintain product databases including BOMs, BOPs, and ERP structures.
  • Oversee complete design packages including drawings, instructions, and compliance.
  • Drive DFQ and DFM improvements to support zero‑defect ambitions.
  • Research materials and processes to enhance product performance.
  • Support manufacturing and assembly for cost‑effective, efficient production.
  • Provide technical support to suppliers and customers.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and lead certification projects.
  • Value engineer existing products to reduce costs and improve performance.
Skills & Experience
  • Degree in Product/Process Design Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years' leadership experience in engineering/manufacturing.
  • Strong project management expertise from concept to production.
  • Advanced CAD/ERP proficiency (Inventor and Fusion preferred).
  • Knowledge of ironmongery/metal processing advantageous.
  • Pragmatic problem‑solving skills and proficiency with prototyping/3D printing.
