Job summary

National Highways in the South East region is seeking an Engineer to join the Pavement/Roads Team within the Operations Directorate. You will lead in developing and delivering a wide range of pavement renewal schemes to ensure the SRN safely meets customer needs now and in the future.

Working with project teams and third parties, you will coordinate works across the region, provide technical support, and ensure adherence to DM RB standards and asset class strategies.

Qualifications

• Membership of professional Body (desirable) or working towards Membership.
• Degree or HND in relevant discipline and appropriate experience, or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of DMRB standards and their application on the highway network.
• Experience in highway infrastructure design, construction and delivery methods.
• Good knowledge of CDM 2015.

Responsibilities

• Lead in the development and delivery of pavement renewal schemes to meet SRN requirements.
• Support activities for identifying and developing early pavement solutions.
• Coordinate works across the region and provide technical support to ensure standards are met.
• Consider health and safety needs throughout planning and delivery of services.
• Assist with asset studies, survey works, and prioritisation to keep assets in serviceable condition.
• Develop early renewal/improvement solutions, including documents, evidence and value management options.
• Develop technical briefs for design and construction contractors.
• Provide technical support to Project Managers: materials approvals, vetting contractor compliance, site inspections, and H&S file reviews.
