Job summary

Linxon is seeking a Principal Design Engineer to lead the engineering team on turnkey HV GIS/AIS substation projects in Birmingham. You will act as technical lead, coordinating with local and remote teams, ensuring design packages meet contract specs, safety and quality standards.

The role requires extensive HV substation experience, strong leadership, and ability to drive design reviews and change management.

Qualifications

Bachelor or Master's in electrical engineering or equivalent.
Extensive HV substation engineering experience for utilities.
Knowledge of modern substation technology.

Responsibilities

Technical lead of Linxon engineering team allocated to the project.
Manage all engineering activities from start to As-Built with QA/QC, HSSE & Integrity.
Submit design packages on time and in line with project schedule.
Monitor engineering cost, risk & change management activities.
Instruct & coordinate the activities of various disciplines (local & remote).
Lead Design Review meetings (DRMs) and Hazard Review meetings (HRMs).
Support for customers and suppliers; handle site queries up to as-built documentation.
Ensure design changes are managed per contract change process.
Identify technical claims and support change order processes.
Prepare RFQs and validate technical content for tenders.
