Lead Substation Engineer – HV Turnkey Projects

Job summary

Linxon is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer for HV substations to join the project team in Middleton, London and Chelmsford. You will lead design coordination across disciplines, interfacing with Linxon execution and engineering teams.

You will oversee budgets, cost forecasts, design reviews, hazard reviews and subcontract management, while ensuring alignment with Customer instructions and change events. A minimum 60% on-site presence during construction is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or master's'in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in HV substation for utilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the design team across all disciplines.
• Liaise with the Project Director on engineering budgets and provide forecast cost to complete estimates and associated justification to changes in expenditure.
• Manage the programme and interface with the planning engineers for design.
• Coordinate with the Principal Design Engineer (Lead Engineer) for design submission, design reviews and hazard reviews.
• Coordinate with the Principal Design Engineer (Lead Engineer) forecasts for completion and resource planning.
• Support the Project Director in overall projects' risk and opportunity assessments and implementation of resulting actions.
• Contribute to the creation of subcontracts/Purchase Orders and manage the subcontractors/suppliers jointly with other involved functions.
• Support the Commercial Manager in contractual and commercial aspects of project engineering (including Customer's'Instruction, Early Warning Notice, Compensation Event ).
• Work with customers to shape and deliver solutions, seeking feedback and innovating with the customer to drive and deliver improvements.
