Job summary

Environment Agency is seeking a Project Manager to lead and deliver exciting projects, including flood risk management studies and schemes that reduce flood risk to communities and enhance the environment.

You will sit in Project & Programme Management (PPD) and take responsibility for managing projects as the Client project manager or alongside senior colleagues, guiding them from strategic planning through to handover while coordinating with suppliers and partners.

Qualifications

• Experience in project and contract management.
• Experience in feasibility assessment, asset management, business case development, cost monitoring/forecasting, scope preparation, CDM, engineering design and construction.
• Experience in a project and contract management environment, ideally within engineering, construction and/or flood & coastal risk management.
• A track record for delivering results on technically challenging projects through coordination of a technical team.
• The ability to mentor and support your teams in delivery.
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills as relationship management of both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver exciting, innovative projects including flood risk management studies and schemes.
• Oversee project delivery from initial strategic planning through feasibility, detailed design, and into implementation, construction and handover.
• Support team members, flexing your involvement to suit team strength and build high-performing teams with suppliers, client representatives, technical specialists and partners.
• Apply strong commercial acumen in project, contract and risk management.
• Establish effective relationships, facilitating collaborative and efficient ways of working and governance.
• Develop a resilient network of stakeholders to negotiate consents, approvals and external funding.
• Regular travel to project sites and meetings; occasional overnight stays.
