Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in the United Kingdom seeks a senior engineer to lead cross-disciplinary teams (electromagnetics, mechanical design, thermal, controls) to integrate and optimize the MGU within a Formula 1 power unit, driving power density and efficiency.

Oversee prototype development, dynamometer testing, and data-driven iterations, directing design reviews and FMEA while ensuring FIA F1 compliance and advancing next-gen materials and manufacturing for race-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in high-speed electric motors, motorsport ERS, or hybrid powertrains.
• Experience with rotor-stator integration, high-speed dynamics, bearing selection.
• Knowledge of FIA F1 power unit regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-disciplinary teams to integrate and optimize the MGU.
• Oversee prototype development and dynamometer testing programs.
• Direct design reviews and FMEA processes, documentation and FIA compliance.
• Foster innovation with next-gen materials, manufacturing advances, and DFM/DFA.
