Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced engineer to lead the integration of the MGU within the Formula 1 hybrid power unit, focusing on maximizing power density, efficiency, and race reliability.

You will direct design reviews, FMEA, and FIA regulations compliance, oversee prototype testing and data-driven iterations, and drive material and manufacturing advances for scalable e-motor production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related).
• 8+ years in high-speed electric motors, motorsport ERS, or hybrid powertrains preferred.
• FIA F1 power unit regulations knowledge is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-disciplinary teams to integrate and optimize the MGU within the hybrid powertrain.
• Oversee prototype development, testing, and data-driven iterations for race-ready solutions.
• Direct design reviews, FMEA, and FIA regulations compliance for MGU power, weight, and safety interfaces.
• Drive research into next-gen materials and manufacturing advances for scalable e-motor production.
