Job summary

GM Performance Power Units is seeking a senior mechanical/electrical engineering professional to lead the integration of the MGU in a next-gen Formula 1 powertrain in the UK. You will oversee prototype work, testing programs, and data-driven iteration cycles to maximize power density and reliability.

The role requires 8+ years in high-speed electric motors or hybrid powertrains, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s or PhD.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in high-speed electric motors, motorsport ERS, or hybrid powertrains preferred.
• Experience with FIA F1 power unit regulations and safety interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-disciplinary teams to integrate and optimize the MGU within the hybrid powertrain.
• Oversee prototype development, dynamometer testing, and data-driven iterations.
• Direct design reviews, DFMEA processes, and FIA regulation compliance.
