Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Reading is seeking a senior engineer to drive the MGU e-motor development for Formula 1 power units. You will lead cross-disciplinary teams spanning electromagnetics, mechanical design, thermal, controls, and manufacturing to optimize power density and race reliability.

The role involves prototype development, dynamometer testing, design reviews, and strict adherence to FIA regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Hands-on experience with high-speed electric motors or FIA-compliant power units.
• Knowledge of CAD/CAx tools and PLM systems for motor design.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-disciplinary teams to integrate and optimize the MGU within the hybrid powertrain.
• Oversee prototype development, dynamometer testing, and data-driven iterations.
• Direct design reviews, FMEA, and FIA FIA F1 power unit regulation compliance.
• Drive research into advanced materials, manufacturing, and DFM/DFA principles.
