Are you an experienced physiologist ready to lead our cardiac physiology team at one of the UK's most prestigious NHS Trusts? At Imperial College Healthcare, we're dedicated to delivering world-class healthcare through cutting-edge research, education, and training. We are now inviting a senior and skilled professional to join our renowned, IQIPS accredited echocardiography department.

Work at the forefront of cardiac diagnostics, where you'll handle a full spectrum of investigations, including 3D and strain analysis, paediatric TTE, cardio-oncology echo, and structural heart intervention TOE. With our large stress echocardiography program and physiologist-led valve clinics, you'll have the chance to push boundaries in the field.

The workload will be a combination of servicedevelopment/management and clinical practice in echocardiography at our Cardiac Investigation Unit - St Mary's Hospital. Main duties of the job
  • To manage the provision of a community echocardiography service.
  • Providing diagnostic transthoracic echocardiography, Dobutamine stress echocardiography, and contrast bubble-studies to both outpatients and inpatients.
  • To manage the community echocardiography physiologist/clinical scientist establishment and oversee the training of junior members of staff and other healthcare professional visitors to the department.
  • To facilitate / participate in research projects in collaboration with cardiology consultants within the department.
  • To perform non-routine tests where necessary.
  • To ensure implementation of clinical governance, complaints, and risk management process for the service in monitoring of compliance with clinical governance standards, other Trust-wide policies and processes and best practice requirements.
  • Act as the focal point for communication for the service and ensure effective communication to all stakeholders, ensuring views and decisions are communicated both up and down the management structure.

Education/ Qualifications
  • BSE adult TTE accreditation or equivalent (ASE/EACVI).
  • Initial application for STP equivalence submitted
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development, including attendance of local/in-house management courses
  • Higher academic qualification (MSc/MBA/PhD/doctoral study)
  • Level 3 BSE accreditation in stress-echocardiography
Experience
  • 5 years' experience as a band 7 chief cardiac physiologist
  • Previous leadership of a department/sub-speciality area of cardiac physiology/echocardiography
  • Strong teaching/training background for individuals undergoing BSE accreditation
  • Experience of stress-echocardiography, TOE, and contrast bubble-studies
  • Previously employment as band 8a department lead
  • Experience of physiologist/scientist led stress-echocardiography, and contrast bubble-studies
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
  • Strong education/training skills. Regular presenter/lead for local/in-house meetings
