Job Description

Edwards Diving Services are seeking to recruit a full time Land Surveyor for an immediate start to join our growing team and work on a diverse range of projects. This is a great opportunity to build your career with guided internal and external training as suited to your experience. Your role will be flexible, dynamically providing in-house survey services to support our in-house survey team. Predominantly within the Welsh catchment. The right candidate will be able to take initiative and progress working to our purpose everyday: engineering solutions in challenging locations.

EDS invests in its staff, and you will be supported and encouraged to undertake CPD and further qualifications relevant to the role as it develops further in the Geospatial environment. An active input into innovation and future processes will be welcome including any discussion about personal future career development and qualification outside of in-house training.

The role will be based from our South Wales Head Office, near Cardiff.

Key responsibilities:

  • Undertaking land / topographic surveys, using a variety of specialist equipment and technology
  • Use a range of equipment to produce surveys
  • Analyse information thoroughly before it is handed over
  • The ability to process the site data an advantage (desirable but not essential)
  • Check equipment is correct and in calibration for all site activities
  • Use equipment in the correct manner and keep it clean and functional before returning to stores
  • Produce site records and specified output/deliverables as required
  • Preparing survey drawings (desirable but not essential)
  • Advising about technical matters
  • Working both on site and in an office/workshops as required
  • Supporting development of in-house engineers and trainees to use survey equipment effectively and process data

Skills & Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have the following experience/qualifications:

  • 3+ years in a similar role
  • Specialist land surveying skills
  • Technical Qualifications (NVQ/HNC etc)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal communication
  • Proven planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to work safely and at times remotely, observing all aspects of health and safety which could both impact yourself and others
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Can work within confined spaces (formal confined spaces training will be provided)
  • Be eligible to live and work in the UK
  • Hold a full valid UK driving license
  • Any experience in the following will be advantageous but not essential: Autodesk / Survey process Software / Trimble or Leica / GNSS / total station / laser scanning

Salary and terms will be competitive and negotiable depending on the candidate. All EDS staff benefit from a competitive package including private healthcare and a stakeholder pension.
