The successful candidate will be responsible for quality control and testing of chemicals, working closely with production and supporting business development. A degree in Chemistry or a relevant science is preferred. The role offers a competitive salary of £25,000 to £30,000 and requires the candidate to be commutable to Oldbury or willing to relocate.

A well established and successful global manufacturing group in the industrial chemicals sector require a Laboratory Technician Industrial Chemicals for a position in Oldbury, near Birmingham.

Reporting to the Production Manager you will be responsible for all Quality Control, Testing, Regulatory and Development work.

You will be degree educated in a relevant science-based discipline (ideally Chemistry) and have some commercial experience in a laboratory setting, although prior experience is not essential.

Main Tasks
  • Be responsible for testing, quality control, regulatory and product development and assisting with production processes when required.
  • Work on own initiative and elevate issues to the Production Manager Oldbury as appropriate.
  • Work closely with Production to ensure timely despatch of on spec deliveries.
  • Support the sales team in business development by developing solutions in response to customer demands.
  • Identify and report any product or equipment faults.
  • Maintain good stock of reagents and consumables needed for laboratory use.
  • Keep all Bills of Material up to date including operating instructions.
  • Develop and maintain Technical Data Sheets, Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Investigate the cause of any quality related non‑conformances and assist in the implementation of agreed preventive measures.

The role will suit individuals currently working as Laboratory Technician Industrial Chemicals Lab Technician, Lab Tech, Laboratory Assistant and be living within a commutable distance of Oldbury, Birmingham, West Midlands, Dudley, Wolverhampton, Kidderminster, Bromsgrove, Bridgnorth, or be willing to relocate.
