Role: Psychology Lab Technician
Location: London (Holborn Campus)
Contract: 0.5 FTE (Part-Time)
Salary: £29,000 per annum (pro rata)
Start Date: 7 April
About Us
The Psychology Lab Technician provides essential technical and operational support to ensure the effective running of the psychology laboratory. The role supports teaching, research and student projects, ensuring high-quality laboratory provision, safe working practices and an excellent student experience.
Manage the day-to-day operation of the psychology laboratory
Maintain laboratory equipment, software and inventories
Provide technical support during practical classes and research activities
Support the use of specialist equipment and research software
Assist with the preparation and troubleshooting of experiments
Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures and conduct risk assessments
Support laboratory-based teaching, demonstrations and student research projects
Maintain accurate records and contribute to quality assurance and accreditation activity
Experience working in a laboratory, technical or research support role
Knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures
Experience supporting practical teaching or research activities
Strong organisational and communication skills
Good IT skills and experience with research or data software
Experience working in a psychology laboratory environment
Familiarity with psychology research equipment (e.g. EEG, eye tracking)
Experience using research software such as SPSS, R, Qualtrics or Gorilla
Experience supporting accreditation, validation or audit processes
